Waiting is often treated as an unavoidable inconvenience, leading to disengagement. Tasks like food ordering, cab and travel bookings, or stock trading typically involve multiple apps, creating repeated pauses and mental fatigue. Despite research on perceived waiting (Seow, 2006; Nah, 2004; Tarasewich, 2011), limited studies explore how redesigned waiting combined with unified task flows can improve user perception and satisfaction across multiple domains.
Based on literature and preliminary observations:
• Interactive waiting is expected to reduce perceived waiting time.
• Unified micro-journeys are likely to lower cognitive and emotional load.
• Emotional engagement during waiting may improve task satisfaction.
• Progress narratives may be preferred over static loading indicators.
